So. We have a dysfunctional napping routine. It is always embarrassing to admit to people but it is what keeps me sane and the Child napping. Here it is: We nap only in the car. Yesssss. Horrible isn't it. Everyday around 11 a.m. or so we load up and drive around for "nite nite" time. My husband (poor man) absolutely hates that we do this because he is convinced we could put child # 2 through college with the amount of gas money that is required to "Nap" our little darling. (since when has the word "nap" become a verb, as in "I have to nap my child" ? I think this is my invention)
So look here people, don't judge me. I know what you are thinking. I've seen the looks.
Anyway, I've tried to just have him nap at home...but the stubborn little man (I wonder where he got that from....) will just NOT NAP. Now if you have or have ever had a child you will know that NO NAP is just not do-able. Not ever. So we cruise around til he nods off. Then I sit in my driveway and read books or stand outside my car and talk on the phone. My neighbors think I'm nuts, by the way.
Of course today some mad urge made me go to Taco Bell during The Nap....now I feel like I'm gonna throw up. blech.

Our tiny little Zoo
So we went to the zoo today. It is so small but hey, it's all we got. We took the the Big Red Beast of a wagon (which Carter loooooves) along with it's clip on umbrella to shade the little Pasha from the scorching winter sun. He looks so regal when I pull him around in it....it cracks me up. The two animals I personally like to see there are the jaguar and the tiger. It is slightly depressing that their enclosures are so small but at least they are "themed" (ya know South America, Africa,etc...).
When Carter was 9 or 10 months he pointed at the jaguar and said "kitty cat" in a slurred, first-word type manner, so I have had a special place in my heart for the big cat. Not so much anymore..... It disturbed me that he eyed my sweet little youngster like he was a juicy turkey dinner. I was immediately offended. He kept on licking his chops and pacing back and forth; eyes glazed in yummy anticipation. Momma instincts kicked in and I said "say buh-bye to the kitty" as I gave him a very dirty look. I almost flipped the jaguar off....I am ridiculous.
Then we took a train ride around the zoo which is not very exciting really but the train says "choo choo", so we like it.
So there you have it. Our day, essentially. Now begins the "waiting for daddy to get home" phase. We are like faithful retrievers at the door when he pulls up.
I promise I will post pictures on this thing soon.

House of Destruction
I don't understand it all. My house looks like there was an explosion of laundry, shoes and toys. I'm so tired and just can't imagine doing the hunchback-walk from room to room picking them all up. For some odd reason the storm never settles in the dining room so I like to go stand in there and pretend the rest of the house is clean. argh. It's gotten so bad that Carter found a cheese-nip under the coffee table (from last week, of course) and is now frantically signing for more and pointing under the coffee table like it is a magical cheese-nip dispenser. I must clean house tonight. How does it get so damn dirty in 4 days??
Blog, blog, bloggity blog blog blog
Blog. What an awful word. It sounds like the sound you make right before you throw up. Gross. Maybe that's why I haven't embraced it before..... Anyway, I've jumped on the bandwagon and created our own family blog to share with friends and family who are scattered all over the country. Hopefully it will be chock full of entertainment but it will probably just be me whining about how many times I bend over in a day and pick up toys, shoes, cheerios and sippy cups. Prime New Yorker material. Enjoy.
